Just over a Year later (February 2022)

As a result of this treatment I suffered very few minor side-effects my bladder and bowel were very slightly burnt (?) and soon recovered entirely.  Ten months after treatment my PSA that had fallen from 8% to 0.73% rose slightly to 2.2% causing some alarm and resulting in my undergoing a PET scan (reported elsewhere on this website Read More...).  This proved to be clear and my PSA soon fell back to the previous very low count.

Total PSA

So, so far, the MR-Linac treatment has been an unequivocal success.

Beginning in the capital Colombo, on the west coast, our bus travelled anticlockwise, in a loop, initially along the coast; then up into the highlands; then north, as far as Sigiriya; before returning southwest to Colombo.

His life in a can

A Short Story

"She’s put out a beer for me!   That’s so thoughtful!"

He feels shamed, just when he was thinking she takes him for granted.

He’s been slaving away out here all morning in the sweltering heat, cutting-back this enormous bloody bougainvillea that she keeps nagging him about.  It’s the Council's green waste pick-up tomorrow and he’s taken the day off, from the monotony of his daily commute, to a job that he has long since mastered, to get this done.

He’s bleeding where the thorns have torn at his shirtless torso.  His sweat makes pink runnels in the grey dust that is thick on his office-pale skin.  The scratches sting, as the salty rivulets reach them, and he’s not sure that he hasn’t had too much sun.  He knows he’ll be sore in the office tomorrow.

The Carbon Tax

  2 July 2012

I’ve been following the debate on the Carbon Tax on this site since it began (try putting 'carbon' into the search box).

Now the tax is in place and soon its impact on our economy will become apparent.

There are two technical aims:

    1. to reduce the energy intensiveness of Australian businesses and households;
    2. to encourage the introduction of technology that is less carbon intensive.
